The Josh Allen Curse is REAL, which is bad news for Patrick Mahomes. No team has ever beaten Josh Allen in the playoffs and won the following week.
Kansas City dominated Buffalo in the Divisional Round, and now Mahomes will look to snap the curse and advance to his fourth Super Bowl. The Josh Allen Curse began in 2019 when the Bills lost to the Texans, and Houston proceeded to get their doors blown off by Kansas City.
Four teams have fallen at the hands of the curse, and two of those teams have been quarterbacked by Mahomes. Whether you believe in the Josh Allen Curse or not, you can't deny that the odds are stacked against Mahomes again.
The Baltimore Ravens haven't shown any weaknesses, and even though Kansas City is coming off their best game of the season, they must play perfectly to beat the Ravens. Baltimore is the best team in the Quality Stats Power Rankings, and this has predicted victory at a 63% rate this season.
Lamar Jackson, the likely MVP this season, is fourth in Real QBR and second in Offensive Passer Rating. He ranks higher than Mahomes in each of these metrics, and leaders in each of these stats predict victory 54% of the time.
On defense, the Ravens are also stacked with the best overall position in Defensive Rusher Rating and the second spot in Defensive Passer Rating. The Chiefs have performed on defense, but the Ravens are still a league above Kansas City in our proprietary stats.
Mahomes' magic is real, but it will take a monster effort from Kansas City to prevail on Sunday.
